Boeing  777 ............................................................................Specifications

Boeing 777-300ER, F-GSQI of Air France as seen at Houston George Bush International on 4th November 2005. Air France was launch customer for the 300ER and this aircraft was  delivered new to the airline under a lease arrangement with ILFC (International Lease Finance Corporation) 18th of March 2005.

The Boeing 777 was the first civil aircraft to be solely designed on a computer. Developed over a period of several years up to 1990 as the Model 767-X, the Boeing 777 as finally launched has little in common with the earlier type other than the overall configuration. Intended to fill the gap between the 767-300 and the 747-400, the Boeing 777 is conceived as a family of variants to cover medium-to-long ranges and featuring different fuselage lengths. This aircraft was the first aircraft to be designed almost completely (90 %) by computer and was the largest aircraft to introduce fly-by-wire controls. A unique feature, offered as an option for the 777 family is the ability to fold the outer wing panels upwards, reducing the span by some 41 ft (12,5 m) in order to give the aircraft compatibility with existing gate and taxiway space at crowded airports. The launch version, the series 200 was followed by a longer-range model some 18 months later, with weights of 580,000-590.000 Ib and the ability to carry 300-320 passengers over 6,400 naut mls (11 850 km). The series 200ER flew for the first time in October 1996 and as it's name suggests is a longer range 200 with extra weights. It was put into service by British Airways in 1997. A greater passenger capacity version was launched in 1995. the series 300 flew for the first time in 1997. It had a fuselage lengthened by 10 metres, strengthened undercarriage, airframe and inboard wing. Other changes as cpmpared to the 200 were a tailskid and ground manoevering cameras mounted on the horizontal tail underneath the forward fuselage. The 300ER joined Cathay Pacific in 1998. The 300ER, a 300 series with extra range upto 13,427 km. was first flown in February 2003 and delivered to Air France in 2004. The aircraft features the massive Gereral Electric GE90-115B engine of 115,300 lb thrust, currently the worlds largest Jet engine. After many years of waiting Boeing finally launched the series Ultra long range 200LR which was rolled out on 15th February 2005. By comparison the A340-500, an aircraft compatable in size and range flew for the first time in 2002. Boeing needed alot of convincing (and a firm order book) before the justification for an aircraft capable of a range of over 17,000 km could be made. This version of the 777 can cover a flight non stop for example from New York to Singapore or London to Perth, infact with it's 17,446 km range the 200LR can connect any two cities on the globe with each other. It has the greatest range of any commercial Airliner to date. The first LR will be delivered to Pakistan International in January 2006.

The first batch of 777's for British Airways were 200 series powered by General Eletric GE90 engines. This aircraft G-ZZZA was actually the 6th 777 to be built and was the General Electric GE-90 prototype. She first flew on the 2nd of February 1995 being delivered on the 20th of May 1996.  In 2015 the aircraft was still current. She is seen here as she appeared at Paris Charles de Gaulles whilst on test flights between London Hearthrow and CDG during October 1996.

Saudi Arabian Airlines Boeing 777-268ER HZ-AKF first flew on the 2nd of February 1998 and was delivered to the airline on the 15th of February 1998. The 200ER series formerly known as the 200 EW (extra weights) had more fuel capacity, larger engines and longer range than the standard 200. The aircraft is shown as she appeared at Munich Franz Strauss airport on the 15th of November 2005.

Japan Airlines Boeing 777-349 JA752J first flew on the 7th of November 2003 and was delivered on the 13th of November 2003. JAL also operates 300ER and 200/200ER models. This particular aircraft (cn 27655) is seen as she appeared at Tokyo Haneda International on the 27th of February 2005. This is the latst JAL livery and no longer features the famous red crane symbol. Note the "we support Unicef" sticker at aft on the fuselage.

The Boeing 777-200LR is an ultra long range version based on the series 200 fuselage with more powerful engines and the greater wing span of the series 300ER version. It has a range of 9,420 nm (17,466 km), compared to the Airbus A340-500 range of 9,000 nm (16,700 km). The aircraft prototype first flew in 2005. PakistaŽn International being the launch customer for the type. This particular circraft is seen as she appeared at Manchester International on the 1st. of April 2006. She first flew on the 8th of March 2005. as the first Boeing prototype N60659 and later as N5022E, being sold to PIA on the 25th of January 2006. PIA had plans to use the LR on direct Karachi to Chicago, Toronto, New York and Houston flights, but for the moment the aircraft makes a scheduled stop in Manchester before continuing accross the Atlantic.
